My journey to counseling:
When my daughter was born I became facinated in human behavior and began reading all I could find. I wanted to be a good mom so understanding what caused behavior and how to affect change was important to me. Eventually, I began facilitating parenting classes and loved it. While working with court ordered parents I began to see how our behavior as adults so strongly affects our children. I loved this work so much that I enrolled in school majoring in Behavior Science and Professional Counseling with special studies in neuroscience and trauma informed care. Over the years I gained experience with mental health issues such as Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, Addictions, and Mood Disorders. This is where I learned the value of empowering people to believe in themselves, to respect all individuals for the unique gifts they bring to the world, because they all have incredible gifts! I gained experience and training in individual, group, equine, family, couples, mindfulness, life coaching, and psychodrama therapies. I experienced non-profit and for-profit companies, outpatient, residential, inpatient and treatment care facilities for adults, children, couples and families suffering from the effects of trauma, addiction, parenting or family issues, grief and loss, and mental health. Theory and Methods Utilized I utilize evidence based therapeutic techniques such as trauma informed care, motivational interviewing, cognitive reframing, and person centered care with a strength based focus. Some methods include the use of DBT, CBT, Psychodrama, Empty Chair Work, Grief Work, Family Sculpting, Reframing Negative Thought Patterns, Mindfulness Practice, EMDR, and more. I will collaborate, upon request, with key individuals such as your Physician, Nutritionists, Integrative Therapists such as Acupuncture, EMDR, SE, Naturopathic Professionals, Family Members and other key Team Members involved in your care. Together we will find your true inner strengths and you will grow these strengths into areas that cause great discomfort. Often, the affects of depression, addiction, anxiety, mood, mental disorders, or grief can destroy people's lives. I will show you how to cope and manage your symptoms while we address the underlying issues that continue driving your symptoms. If you are ready to make changes in your life, call for an appointment. The sessions are usually set up for every other week. I have no weekend and evening hours available at this time. I offer a sliding scale based on your income, but have limited openings for sliding scale. As you might imagine these sessions fill up immediately. If you cannot pay the regular fee please email me your situation and I will place you on the waiting list for a reduced fee that you can afford. I want to help all people, not just those that can afford it. New patients, if paying cash, will be asked to make a $50 deposit in advance to hold the first session timeslot. After the first session you will make payments through Zelle before 10am the day of your session. With a cash pay option you can immediately get to work on the things most urgent, no time wasted on intake forms, treatment planning or other reports required by insurance companies. When you use your health insurance, the therapist must report your diagnosis, treatment plan, progress updates and so on. All this work takes time and money, which increases fees substantially. The paperwork is extensive and required by the insurance companies, or they don't have to pay. They need proof that you need the sessions, and then ongoing proof that you still need therapy. In addition, your information becomes a permanent record. If you elect to pay cash your sessions are completely confidential and there will never be a permanent diagnosis, progress report, or treatment plan record. Our sessions will be completely private! For some people privacy is very important. Of course we will still plan and maintain confidential records, just not to the extent required by insurance, and those records never leave my office. Cash Payment Methods I accept payments the morning of your session via Zelle. I do not utilize Venmo or paypal. You may bring cash to your sessions for the next session, or pay via Zelle. Cancellation fee is $50 paid the morning of your session. This assures that you will always have a timeslot set aside for you. Please do all you can to keep your scheduled appointment. Insurance If you are utilizing insurance please contact me for openings. I currently have a waiting list for those utilizing insurance. If you would like to be placed on that waiting list please send me an email and let me know. I'll let you know as soon as someone completes their therapy program. The insurance companies require a complete biopsychosocial Assessment and diagnosis, which I am happy to do. This would be our first session and will last about an hour. During our next session, we will devise a treatment plan together (set goals) and then we are free to begin work. This is all required by the insurance companies. You may also have a deductible to meet and will likely have a co-pay. I accept insurance from the following companies:
